Las Canas Sosua Real Estate Community…

Las Canas is a Sosua real estate community in the hills above the village! There are so many different condo and villa options in Sosua that it requires you to do your research and homework before buying Sosua real estate.
Most of us think of living on the beach when considering an investment on a Caribbean Island. But I’m from Florida and I would rather be in a lush tropical rain forest where its private and peaceful! That’s why I own in Las Canas.
Las Canas is the right option for me. It’s not upscale but it suits my needs. I can come and go as I want without worrying about a family of Dominicans moving in while I’m out of the country! As they say in the real estate biz, you can lock and leave.
I bought my modest one bedroom condo apartment in 2007 for around $63,000. I can jump on a plane in Miami at 3PM and be at my condo in Sosua by 6PM. I like to go there to work because there is something about looking out my windows and seeing a natural tropical setting and peaceful surroundings.
If you’re like me, work from home and want a tranquil place to get away Las Canas may be the answer for you as well.

Las Canas offers condos for sale or lease and weekly rentals for vacationers. There is a nice open air restaurant just steps away from my door and a gigantic swimming pool. There is on-sight management and reception personnel. Maid and laundry service is available at very affordable prices. In the lobby area there is a mini market and breakfast cafe, 24 hour security, hot water, cable TV, phone, Internet (sometimes) and air conditioning.
It was originally built as an all-inclusive resort but I guess someone forgot to tell the investors that most tourists like to be on the tropical beaches when vacationing in the tropics. Several years ago it was converted to condos, hotel accommodations, and long term apartment living. Las Canas is not perfect but I’m satisfied with the renovations and amenities. They are working to improve the wireless Internet access as I write this post! Overall, Las Canas provides pretty comfortable modern living for a good value.
This Sosua real estate community is located in the foothills of the village, in the midst of a tropical rain forest! Las Canas owns a shuttle van that will take you to the village and pick you up a couple of time per day. The beaches, restaurants and nightlife is only a five minute drive.
Las Canas is great for Internet marketers and online business owners or anyone who has a work at home job! Its out-of-the-way convenience and out-of-the-ordinary setting can really get the creative juices flowing. People from all over the world live, work and play at Las Canas. Like I said its perfect for my needs but its not for everyone.
I think weekly rates are around $350 for a one bedroom. Prices for the condos start around $79,900. If you have any questions about Las Canas or Sosua real estate just drop me a line by replying in the comment box below.

Sosua Blue Bayou Condos…

A small piece of the most gorgeous Sosua real estate can be found at Blue Bayou condos! A couple of years ago I was on the beach near Casa Marina Resort at the Waterfront restaurant and I could see up on the cliffs a sign that read “Blue Bayou” so I decided to investigate by walking around town to find the street that would lead me to the sign.
After about an hour I found the street between Bailey’s restaurant and the Orange store. I walked down the narrow road to the end where I found a wall around the project and a entrance way to the Blue Bayou Condominiums! What I discovered was a small development of just 9 beachfront apartments on a cliff, high above the Atlantic Ocean with absolutely breathtaking beach and ocean views!

I have never been inside the apartments but I have been told that they are large and pretty spacious. The location is very private and peaceful yet in the heart of Sosua. You can easily walk to the bank, local restaurants and pubs in town. Blue Bayou was built on the edge of a cliff and there is a gated entry with steps down to a private beach area. My understanding is that security, cable TV and Internet is included at Blue Bayou.
Other than the fact that I’ve been there and seen Blue Bayou I really don’t know that much about the condos. A local real estate agent said the prices start in the low $200,000 range. I took the pictures that are seen on this post in 2008 when I was walking around the grounds.
If you want to find out more about the condominiums I think they may have a website! Just do a search for “Blue Bayou Sosua” or find an ethical and professional real estate agent in town to help you. If you don’t know of a local expert agent play it safe and call RE/MAX or Century 21 in Sosua.
If anyone has more information about Blue Bayou I would love to hear from you. Your comments are welcomed by replying below!

Sosua Ocean Village…

Sosua Ocean Village…A New Five Star Development!
An Elegant 100 Acre Private Oceanfront Community…
This new Sosua real estate development is located in one of the most desirable areas on the north coast nestled between Sosua and Cabarete. Thirty per cent of the total area of the complex will be green zones to maintain privacy within the residential community.
Sosua Ocean Village is a gated and private real estate development with 24/7 security service offering beachfront villas, townhouses and condominium apartments. Some of the project amenities include an entertainment and sport center club house with a Gold’s Gym, three clay tennis courts, beauty shop, restaurant (casual & fine dining), huge pool with swim up bar and a game room and smaller pool for the kids.
Other amenities include underground utilities, wireless Internet, cable TV, centralized water purification system, jogging trails, walking paths, a secluded private beach, reception area, spa center with jacuzzi and billiard room. Sosua Ocean Village will include 24 hour electricity, a professional management staff and all the services you would expect from a five star development.

There are several apartment designs to select from. Each of the buildings feature 6 spacious two and three bedroom condos with 1560 to 1893 sq.ft. The units include balconies, terraces, 2 parking places per unit, and a community swimming pool surrounded by tropical garden landscaping. The town homes at Sosua Ocean Village have a Mediterranean architectural style with two luxurious designs.
You also have the option of building a custom home using your own design or with the help of Sosua Ocean Village who can recommend a professional local architect! The home building lots are priced in the mid $100,000’s.
At one time there was twelve oceanfront parcels available, some with a private and secluded beach consisting of about 1.5 acres! The oceanfront building lots have all been sold to best of my knowledge. When they were for sale, a couple of years ago, the asking price started around one million seven hundred thousand dollars ($1,700,000).
I have not been over to Sosua Ocean Village is over a year to see how they have progressed. If anybody has any up to date information about this community I would sure like to hear from you!
What has your experience been with Sosua Ocean Village?
